On today’s show we will be talking about a trematode or fluke that is not seen often in humans, but is fascinating just the same Dicrocoelium dendriticum, or In the Southeast Asian countries Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, the liver fluke Opisthorchis viverrini is endemic, and chronic infection with this trematode is a known risk factor for development of the bile duct cancer cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Lancet liver flukes are parasitic flatworms that can control an animal's behaviour by burying into its brain.
